Nike Kobe 9

Kobe 9 December Release

After five straight models with low-cut construction, the next Kobe shoe – the Kobe 9 – will divert from that path. This first look at the Nike Kobe 9 with a mid-cut construction certainly breaks away from what the Nike Kobe line had firmly accomplished in years prior, bringing in a fresh take on a mid-cut shoe with the boot-like build. Although it is possible that this version here is just one trim of the signature sneaker (a lower cut version may very well be available), it certainly is interesting to see Nike take on a different approach late in his career. We recently saw Kobe rock the 8 in a team practice so the added height may not even be necessary for the Black Mamba.

Aside from the form of the Kobe 9, let’s take a quick run through the obvious details; Engineered Mesh returns on the upper, giving the shell a unique appearance and some interesting colorway possibilities, and a carbon-fiber laden midsole should add even more lightweight advantages for the Lakers star as he approaches the final years of his career. In addition to the possibility of a lower cut version like that wear-test sample we showed you months ago, rumors of Flyknit on the Kobe continue to remain rampant, which deems the Kobe 9 the most technologically advanced Nike basketball shoe ever made. Stay tuned for more updates on the Nike Kobe 9 and let us know what you think in the comments below.
