Classics Unboxed: Parra’s Nike Air Max 1 “Amsterdam” Paid Homage To The City’s Infamous Underbelly

Classics Unboxed Parra Air Max 1 Amsterdam Summary

Dutch artist Parra’s Nike Air Max 1 “Amsterdam” collaboration remains one of the most sought after collaborative renditions of Tinker Hatfield’s iconic 1987 visible air runner. Sure, the Parra x Patta x Air Max 1 may be a league above Parra’s individual pair, but this Burgundy, Pink, and Turquoise Blue banger displays Parra’s unique sensibilities and remains to be a true classic.

Initially, this pair was supposed to be inspired by Amsterdam supermarket chain Albert Heijn, until a simple rebrand forced the Dutch self-taught illustrator to ditch that theme for a more vague homage to the city’s infamous nightlife scene and the Red Light District.

Every Thursday we’ll be bringing you new Classics Unboxed heat to bring back some of our favorite collaborations, unearth untold stories about some of the craziest campouts before the days of online launches, and focus on the never before seen details of your holy grails.
