Vans Nods To Their Early Beginnings With Their Newest “Mismatch Pack”

When it comes to skateboarding footwear, no one really shines in the limelight as much as California-based imprint, Vans. The brand has reached a point where they not only cater to the audience of their focused sport, but have proven the versatility and timelessness of their classic silhouettes that the streetwear/high-fashion brands from Fear of God to COMME des GARCON to Supreme have solidified their place on the casual sneaker scene.

For their upcoming collection, they’re looking to shed some light on their formative beginnings by taking us back to 1976. Back then, when the Era was only starting to emerge on the skate scene, they would allow any rider to walk into one of their family-run retail locations and to replace one of their shoes in the event that it was blown out. As a result, a trend of skateboarders walking around with mismatched shoes was sparked, eventually leading to an unofficial movement that allowed skateboarders to express themselves through color and style. Fast forward to December 2019, Vans looks to nod to this early time period of their history with the release of their brand new “Mismatch Pack”. Three classic silhouettes including the Era, Old Skool Style 36, and Slip-On all get playfully remixed with heaps of camouflage patterns and zebra stripes split between each foot. Grab a closer look at each pair here below, and find them available now on Vans.com for $60-65.
