Japan’s BlackEyePatch Reunites With Reebok For Instapump Fury And Zig Kinetica

BlackEyePatch, though relatively obscure as far as the reaches of sneaker culture, made quite a few cameo appearances a bit ago thanks to Reebok, the Boston-based label affording them the opportunity to dress the Daytona DMX II as well as the Club C. And now, after testing a few ideas with the latter, the Japanese imprint is readied to expand their collaboration four-fold as they present the Instapump Fury and Zig Kinetica in two colorways per.

While typically more attuned to bright graphics, BlackEyePatch is opting for a design language deceptively low profile for their Instapump Fury set. Hued in a triple black and triple white, the pairs, at a glance, remind of options already on the shelves; but, upon closer inspection, one will notice the subtly etched all-over graphic that envelops the model’s bladder with smiley faces, oblique Reebok branding, various industry characters, trademarks, and much more. Even the Pump itself is given a playful stamp to match as it alternates in color and splits the “REEBOK” namesake down the middle. Expect further insignia to hit the heel and its above pulls alongside, while the BlackEyePatch logo is placed on the side via an included hang tag.

By comparison, the two Zig Kineticas are far more aggressive — the previously used print more visually evident as it sprawls underneath the see-through tooling. One can more easily read the various uses of typography as well as notice the varied mix of retro to modern insignia, all thanks to the contrasted finish. Above, the construction is relatively more ordinary as mesh outfits the toe, synthetic the overlays, and neutrals the majority of the coloring. Seldom hits of blue, red, yellow, and green work their way in as accent notes, matching little atop the black and white backdrop save for the symbol-composed “REEBOK” branding on the insole.

Grab a detailed look at both offerings right here and find them available right now on the eBay stores below. A Reebok.com is sure to follow, though it may be a couple weeks or months until we see either on a wider scale.
