The Nike Daybreak Type Contrasts Navy With Beiges For New “Thunder Blue” Colorway

The Nike Daybreak Type combines the preppy appeal of the original Daybreak and the deconstructed aesthetic prevalent in today’s fashions. Thus, the upcoming “Thunder Blue” colorway makes perfect sense: a navy and beige mix that aligns with colors found in men’s fall/winter capsule wardrobes.

The pair starts with a navy airy mesh base, with suede eye stays in a matching shade. Light beige–almost grey–suede overlays are found on the heel, toe, and, forefoot. The overlay on the heel partially covers the Side swoosh outline that has been messily stitched. For the leather heel tab, a dark orange-brown is used instead, reminiscent of oxford shoes or other classic leather goods. Pops of coral are applied subtly, only applied to the inside and as contrast stitch detailing on an overlay around the toe. To round out the design, the exposed foam that constructs the tongue is surprisingly tinted in navy to match the uppers, rather than in the standard yellow color.

You can make the pair yours when it arrives at Nike.com with a retail price tag of $90 in the coming months.

For more preppy looks, check out the upcoming Blazer Low ’77, which uses “Team Red” accents.
