UNDERCOVER Ostensibly References The Air Moc For Their AW22 Nike Collaboration

For many, many years now, UNDERCOVER has stood by Nike’s side, crafting not only lifestyle collaborations but also runners under the GYAKUSOU flag. The Japanese legend has been instrumental in introducing new silhouettes as well. Back in 2018, for example, they debuted the once-beloved React Element 87, which very quickly claimed a “best of” accolade. And it seems later this year — effectively four years thereafter — the label is presenting another unfamiliar proposition, which bears a passing resemblance to the Air Moc.

Akin to the latter, the shoe’s upper proffers a simple design, one almost seamless in construction. Even the lateral ventilation feels familiar, featuring eight different perforations much like the original Air Moc. The fastener only furthers the connection, as its laces and toggle hang off the back in a similar fashion. UNDERCOVER’s signature “CHAOS AND BALANCE” adage does subvert the minimalism quite a bit, though not to the same extent as the sole, whose React-cushioned build borrows from ISPA’s own language.

For a quick look at the model’s two upcoming colorways, check out the lookbook imagery below. As these were revealed alongside UNDERCOVER’s AW22 collection, we won’t be see a release until late 2022.

In other news, additional Louis Vuitton Off-White Air Force 1 F&F colorways have been revealed.
