Nike Ushers In New Midsole Technology With The Spark Flyknit 1

The Nike Running category is replete with many an innovative silhouette — and through new learnings and innovations, the brand continues to push the envelope every year. For 2022, the Swoosh is ushering in new midsole technology with the recently-leaked Spark Flyknit 1.

Currently, not much is known about Nike Spark, as we’re awaiting official correspondence from the brand. Visually, though, the midsole unit proffers an experimental design, which is likely formulated based on rigorously collected data. At a glance, the fixture appears as if it’s separated into three pieces: white neutrals dress the bottom-most portion, tans the upper half, and yellow the plate in between. This may, like prior offerings, improve energy return and maximum speed.

The upper is equally unique in its construction, appearing similar to many of the Swoosh’s D/MS/X offerings. Neutral-colored knits create an outer layer, that’s then blended into the see-through window at the side. This reveals not only additional branding but also an inner frame, whose blues and oranges emerge at the tongue and back heel.
