First Look: adidas Trae Unlimited 2

A budget-friendlier basketball shoe from Trae Young.

First Look: adidas Trae Unlimited 2

With just two signature solutions under his belt at the time, Trae Young and adidas unveiled the first cost-effective silhouette in the young point guard’s signature series last December. While just a few weeks remain before the Trae Unlimited’s one-year anniversary, the two-time All-Star and the German sportswear behemoth have since unveiled the sequel in Young’s burgeoning budget-friendly roster.

The adidas Trae Unlimited 2 sees a number of design influences plucked from the brand’s broader footwear initiatives, like the Yeezy 700-reminiscent mid-foot overlays. Utilizing a diamond-cut mesh, the upper is treated to the breathable textile from the vamp to heel while the latter leather overlays and quarter achieve a symmetrical appearance on the lateral and medial sidewalls for enhanced durability. Utilizing a split-tongue construction, an inner bootie synonymous with protecting Trae’s ankles is mirrored in the tooling alongside a duo of pull tabs placed at the tongue and heel.

Underfoot, the front half of the sole unit borrows the Trae Young 3’s topographical detailing – albeit in a much more reserved fashion. The connections to the TY3 continue onto the tread that wraps up onto the midsole at the medial toe, a common high-contact point for Young and other quick guards while on the hardwood.

Enjoy a detailed look at the adidas Trae Unlimited 2 in the model’s “Green Spark” and “Blue Burst” colorways ahead as we await further release details.
