Black Suede and Patent Leather Meet On The Nike Air Force 1

"Triple Black" gets some upscale touches.

Black Suede and Patent Leather Meet On The Nike Air Force 1

In the somewhat limited world of sneaker memes, “Black Forces” reign supreme. It’s an association that’s surpassed just sneakerhead culture, meaning Nike is no doubt aware the connotation carried by the most simplistic colorway of their staple shoe. Perhaps aiming to reverse course, the newest look for the Air Force 1 relies heavily on “Black Suede,” adding premium detailing to the “Triple Black” blueprint.

Though suede is a staple everywhere else in the Nike catalog, it’s a rarely used touch with the AF1, especially in the comprehensive application seen here. Short grain suede covers the entirety of the upper, continuing until we hit the heel tab where glossy patent leather takes over. Also a seldom seen detail, that glossy material is matched by reflective piping that runs throughout the midsole, adding eye-catching detail to what’s a totally matte profile otherwise.

Neither a release date or a retail price have been confirmed for the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Black Suede.” We do know this will be a women’s release, however. We’ll update as more info emerges, so if this pair caught your eye, keep this article and our Sneaker Release Dates landing page handy.

Jumping ahead on that slate, the “Light Orewood Brown” Foamposite lands towards the end of the month.
