ACRONYM Adds External Zippers To Their MSCHF Super Normal Collaboration

Whether they’re producing backwards footwear, tractioned medical gear or the now-infamous Big Red Boots, MSCHF has a knack for making headlines. The release of their Super Normal, then, was something of a break from their decidedly abnormal norm. Though a de facto takedown of the Nike Air Force 1, it presented a street-level silo in a catalog full of models easier to ogle from afar than truly wear day-to-day. Their next collaboration adds a heavy dose of edge and peculiarity back into the mix with the ACRONYM MSCHF Super Normal.

The most evident addition to the silhouette is an exposed zipper, woven into the Super Model’s body by cutting out the interior panel next to the eye stays. In addition to peeking out at the forefoot, it extends past the tongue, prioritizing an off-the-wall look over any added functionality. For the historians, this hardware harkens back to ACRONYM’s work with Nike, particularly their Lunar Force 1 collab that pinned the additional closure in the same spot on that model.

The wavy eye stays also jut beyond the heel, continuing an “outside the lines” motif. A razor slice at the midfoot reveals neon green structural material inside, mirrored on the toe box. It completes a sci-fi palette that’s only enhanced by the wonky compositional choices made throughout the profile.

The MSCHF ACRONYM Super Normal will release exclusively via a MSCHF.com draw, releasing on June 18th for $250. Catch detailed campaign images just ahead.

In other collab news, the Nike x HUF Air Max 1 returns on June 15th.
