The Nike Dunk Mimics The CO.JP Air Force 1 “Wheat”

The 2001 colorway looks just as good 23 years later.

The Nike Dunk Mimics The CO.JP Air Force 1 “Wheat”

The Nike Dunk is in some ways the perfect canvas, simply composed with a ton of streetwear appeal even if it’s true “prime” is in the rear view. It’s that status that’s made it such a frequent choice for both its own eccentric colorways and appropriating outfits elsewhere in the Beaverton archives. As CO.JP releases enjoy something of a “Cult Classics” moment with pairs like the Air Force 1 “Linen” or Dunk Low “Veneer,” Peter Moore’s design mints an ode to timeless “Wheat.”

Whether it’s that original Air Force 1, iterations via models like the Air Jordan 1 or the Timberlands the theme was based on, the earthy palette has been a staple of Fall rotations forever. It’s no surprise then that pasted onto the Dunk, the same motif succeeds once again. It’s a pretty faithful replication, mirroring the brown outsole and buttery nubuck that were so central to the AF1’s design.

The most obvious tweak is a swap from chocolate brown interiors to sepia tinted mesh. Additionally, silver leather edges give the slightest premium atmosphere in the extremities. While purists may bristle at these “updates,” there’s no denying that this modern refraction holds onto the main spirit of the 2001 OG, and as such, should be a mainstay this autumn.

The Nike Dunk Low “Wheat” is expected this Fall, retailing for $130 upon arrival. Enjoy official images via the gallery embedded below.
