Quarter branding is made to look like game pieces.

New Balance Calls “Domino” On The Fresh Foam BB v2

New Balance’s basketball division has made all the right moves since the brand re-entered the category in 2018. Sponsored NBA stars like Kawhi Leonard, Tyrese Maxey, and Jamal Murray champion a growing slate of performance models, with styles ranging from conservative looks close to the brand’s core ethos to intriguing color combos and design themes. This latest take on the New Balance Fresh Foam BB v2 falls in the latter of those two categories, lending a subtle yet impactful nod to dominoes.

The quarter “N” logo sets a clear direction for the rest of the design, taken with a glossy black background and white dots so as to mimic the look of dominoes (although those colors are traditionally inverted). Aside from black lining and forefoot/tongue detailing to match, the rest of the shoe opts for a soothing off-white ivory shade, another nod to typical game pieces. Material-wise, the upper appears to feature tight mesh/canvas across the base and suede overlays on top. All told, the design reflects a clever theme while simultaneously adhering to a versatile, non-imposing aesthetic.

The New Balance Fresh Foam BB v2 “Dominoes” drops Fall 2024 for $130; see official images below and visit our Sneaker Release Dates hub to browse other upcoming pairs by the Boston brand.
