Dunks Are Still Alive As Long As Nike Keeps Them Simple

They say Dunks are dead, but there’s a reason why clean and simple colorways, like the one you see here, still pulls a good response from the public.

While market over-saturation is definitely real and too much of one thing is never good, what really flattened this once proud shoe was Nike’s incessant desire to unnecessarily expand the silhouette into inane variations. Every twisted and remastered frankenstein’d Dunk that emerged from Beaverton since the pandemic era has chipped away at the legacy of this once-proud basketball shoe.

Frankly, the only way Nike can move on from this beatdown is to forget the era entirely. Just pretend it never happened and stay focused on good materials, good colorways, good pricing, and good distribution. This upcoming two-toned pair checks off enough of those boxes to attract consumers back to the wall of Nike in sneaker stores, but they are marked at $130 which is certainly on the higher end for what appears to be a rather simplistic build.

Expect a release soon on Nike and partnering retailers.
