The Unreleased Nike Air Foamposite” New York Yankees” Sample Has Emerged

The recent resurgence of Foamposites have increased the demand for the foam-molded basketball shoe, although it still has a way to go if it wants to match the heights of the early 2010s. The recent surfacing of some unreleased Foamposite colorways have been keeping the conversation buzzing, and Index Portland just dropped a look at the Air Foamposite One “Yankees” that will most certainly keep the Comments sections alive.

Off the heels of their Air Foamposite One “Bronze Cough Drop” samples, Index is keeping their foot on the gas with this 2019 sample colorway. Featuring the alternating striping inspired by the iconic “Sharpie” Foamposites, this version features a navy blue and white upper that draws comparisons to the home uniforms of the Bronx Bombers. The addition of the light grey on the outsole and lace collar nod to their stripe-less road uniforms.

This type of color-blocking is truly rare for the Foamposite, but it’s not without history. Back in 1997, Penny Hardaway colored in the indented grooves of his Foamposite shoes with a black sharpie marker to comply with league uniform rules that required the shoes to be at least half black. If there’s any other organization that knows a thing about guidelines regarding appearance, it’s the New York Yankees and their notorious no-facial-hair rule. They’ve since gotten a bit more lenient with those customs, whereas the NBA seems to have no rules whatsoever with regards to colors of in-game footwear.

Considering just how seldom these samples have appeared, this size 9 sample available right now directly from Index PDX HERE could disappear fast into the hands of strong-willed Foamposite collectors. See a closer look just above because we suspect these might be scooped up quick.
