New Balance Numeric made major headlines with the introduction of Andrew Reynolds’ New Balance 933, staking the brand’s heralded 990x design language into the skate world for the first time. However, for more down-the-middle applications, the New Balance 480 remains the Numeric workhorse, explicated again with this Bronze 56K link-up at hand.
The long-time NYC skate imprint makes one of their first forays into the world of New Balance with this drop, having previously stepped into footwear via link-ups with Reebok and DC Shoes. Given the 480’s growing profile, leveraged for collabs with Chocolate Skateboards, Premier, and KITH, it’s a naturally synergistic moment for both halves of this equation. With black being the dominant choice for this straightforward leather shoe, the copper and trademark bronze treatments on the toe and in branding hits become all the more impactful. The net result is a shoe that’s subtle enough to pull out on a daily basis, yet with enough flash to befit its special edition nature.
The Bronze 56K x New Balance Numeric 480 is already queued up on the New Balance website for a May 19th release, clocking in at $120 retail. Curiously, Bronze themselves haven’t announced this pair officially — an early launch via their e-commerce channels remains in play.
