Kobe Bryant is obviously best known for his relentless dedication to basketball, but the late legend was an avid supporter of sports outside of his own. On top of an unwavering love for the Philadelphia Eagles, a team he was able to see secure their first championship in 2018, the Mamba’s favored football clubs were Barcelona and AC Milan. The Spanish clubs’ colors made a serious impact on his signature shoe, coating the Kobe 6, 7, 8, and 11, and as the Protro family continues spreading onto the Air Force 1 Low, now ushering a collab Kobe x Barcelona edition of his most frequent off-court choice.

We’ll state up top that the pair depicted in these in-hand shots is, in fact, distinct from the earlier shown Kobe Air Force 1 “Court Purple” despite the stark visual similarities. Most apparent in distinguishing this three-headed link-up is the jeweled black Swoosh that cuts across the snakeskin surface, paired with jet black trim as you work to the rear.

There, Nike remodels the heel cup to outline an oversized Sheath logo, one of many branding notes that also include plenty references to Barca, their crest appearing at the front of the lace unit, emblazoned on the tongue, and stamped on the insole. That interior section rounds out the main points of intrigue with this pair, as it would seem that the drop-in “Protro” insole that debuted on the “Soft Yellow” counterpart will continue for at least one more release.

Footy fans will recognize that this isn’t the genesis of a Kobe x Barcelona relationship in an official capacity, earnestly beginning with the team’s snakeskin third kit that’s been circulating on the ‘net for some time. At the time of publication, release info for this Kobe x FC Barcelona x Nike Air Force 1 Low is largely opaque, but we’ll keep this post and our Sneaker Release Dates landing page updated with additional info as it comes.
