Don’t look now, but football is just around the corner. While from a simple countdown standpoint, less than a month separates us from the start of the pre-season, all 32 teams beginning to report to training camp means that the NFL is truly in the air again. Though he’s the owner of a famously steely personality, it’s hard to say any player is arriving with higher spirits than Jalen Hurts, the reigning Super Bowl MVP and threatening status as Jordan Brand’s #1 gridiron signee.
You don’t need to dive into any real palace intrigue to come to that latter conclusion, either. Following the “Love Hurts” campaign following the Eagles’ second-ever title, the Jumpman outfitted the former Sooner from head to toe as he reported for the first day, replete with an earnest first look on feet. He gives us the debut of the Jordan Trunner O/S in “Infrared,” the third such colorway of the trainer-meets-runner style to hit the ‘net. Whereas the previous two editions, an ACG-like brown/blue and a lifestyle-ready black/pink, at least sported some grounded tones, the silhouette dives full on into the trademark hue, obviously connecting to a canon of “Infrared” looks that’ve become classics over the years.
At the risk of going too “inside baseball,” this “tunnel walk” introduction keeps up a marketing trend that Jordan Brand has established in promoting this silhouette. Each of them came at the hands of someone directly attached to the brand, previously enlisting collector @sneakerdenn and product manager Vashti Aliyah Usry. On top of signalling how important this model is within the halls of Beaverton, it’s a reclaiming of the typical leak cycle, truly getting on top of the Trunner O/S’ rollout as it careens towards a market entrance.
