Matt Varga Given how expressive his shoes are already and how often we see mismatched editions, LaMelo Ball shoes are sort of a “What The” concept unto themselves. While the enterprise has checked off hybrid colorways plenty, PUMA and the former Rookie of the Year are pushing the envelope even further with their latest drop, the PUMA MB.01 “Mash Up.”
As we’ve discussed before, PUMA were trend setters in the early retro game, bringing the PUMA MB.01 back to light in the middle of the initial run for the PUMA MB.03. Given that, resurfacing base model here isn’t too much of a surprise, but this is truly a spotlight for the whole line to date. The MB.01 lends its entire sole unit, but the flame graphic on the upper borrows from the MB.02, the scratch detailing on the medial side is straight from the MB.03, and the tongue graphics derive from Melo’s current choice, the MB.04. Perhaps bucking expectations, the colorway is cohesive across both shoes, allowing those hardware quirks to shine all the more in a fiery pink and orange blend.
