New Balance’s Made in England program has been providing premium product for decades at this point, metronome-like in their ability to excite consumers with reigned-in colorways that let the shoes themselves speak. Leaning into that mission statement, the brand let loose an “Elevated Essentials” collection earlier this year that aligned that selling point with trendier “quiet luxury” aesthetics. Now marching towards becoming an ongoing series, “Elevated Essentials” returns, as does the New Balance 1500.
Easily the most notable change on this edition is the swap to all-leather, breaking from the typical suede and mesh construction that paces most New Balance 1500 releases. To accompany that material switch, the runner model gets a comprehensive dousing in jet black, only barely interrupted by white branding embroidery on the vamp, quarter, and tongue. To round out the distinguished monochromatic layout, it’s a frequent sight; trademark grey splayed across the forefoot outsole and the rear midsole.
The New Balance 1500 “Elevated Essentials” touches down this August via NB UK channels, with a stateside release expected later but nonetheless unconfirmed for the moment. If/when it touches down in the US, a $240 MSRP is expected.
