Crocs And Microsoft Made Windows XP Clogs

As part of its 50th Anniversary celebration, Microsoft partnered with Crocs to create a one-of-a-kind pair of Classic Clogs inspired by the Windows XP operating system, complete with the recognizable default blue sky wallpaper that greeted users once computers were powered on.

As if the design didn’t already strike a nostalgic chord, Crocs adds a half-dozen jibbitz accessories that include Clippy, the AI-like assistant that helped users navigate through Microsoft Office, the Internet Explorer icon, the recycle bin, mouse pointer, a desktop folder icon, and the MSN butterfly.

The upper is colored in a blue and white to match the Californian sky, while the instep is green to match the grassy fields. Fun fact: that default wallpaper was a stock image before Microsoft acquired the rights to the image.

The shoes launched exclusively to Microsoft employees as a pre-order for $80, but a public release is expected in the future. In less nerdy Crocs news (if there were such a thing), here’s the latest on the upcoming Jean Paul Gaultier collaboration.
