SZA Named Vans Artistic Director, Signs Multi-Year Partnership Deal

SZA Named Vans Artistic Director, Signs Multi-Year Partnership Deal

Some artists don’t reach SZA’s global superstar status over a dozen albums, but the St. Louis native has become a household name in the span of just two. Just putting the finishing touches on her Grand National Tour with Kendrick Lamar, the “Kill Bill” singer is making her biggest step yet in the realm of footwear, as Vans announces SZA has joined the brand as Artistic Director.

Just as a matter of record, SZA already carries a bit of shoe legacy, trotting out a three-pair collaboration with Crocs earlier in the year. However, this move aligns with her own personal style, sharing of the brand: “I’ve been wearing Knu Skools and other styles for years, they’ve always had an ethos I connect with.” It’s only natural that the chunky silhouette is the shoe featured in this announcement and its associated photoshoot. However, those with an eye on style accounts will note that her statement isn’t just to tout her new title; she’s been photographed in the Style 44 and a variety of Vans products throughout the years.

In this new role, SZA will help set the direction for upcoming inline campaigns, and of course, bring to life her own exclusive collaborative capsules alongside. It’ll surely be as big of a headline once those come to pass, but for now, peruse some of the shots from this announcement below.
