Sterling Ruby and S.R. Studio LA CA have been an integral part of the Vans OTW story so far, something that the two indicated as images of marbled Authentic 44 and Old Skool 36 colorways for their third collection began circulating. However, official announcements around that capsule now reveal that this third chapter is far more transformative than we first imagined: debuting the all-new Future Clog silhouette.
While the molded, one-piece construction of the shoe is already eye-catching enough, especially in the Vans roster, it belies the true hardware twist. The Vans Future Clog is a two-in-one design, containing both a minimal mule design that becomes a bootie-like interior once slipped into the TPU clog. Designed in conjunction with Ruby, the multi-hyphenate shared that his Dutch heritage is what led to this wild hybrid: “I fondly remember my grandfather wearing clogs while working in his shop… I wanted to honor the tradition of Dutch clogs while pushing them into the future.”
Interestingly, official Vans promo materials make no mention of the green colorway pictured on their socials, leaving its status a bit opaque for the moment. As for the other three, the yellow marbled colorway is exclusive to srstudio.com, while the black and white tonal editions will hit Vans.com on August 21st (alongside the rest of the offerings.) A $200 sticker price is expected.
