One year later, we can still feel the chills from Team USA’s epic triumph at the Paris Olympics. Led by the all-time greats in LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, and more, the Men’s Basketball Team staved off a laudable effort by France to once again take home the Olympics Gold Medal. It quickly became a documentary on Netflix, further showcasing the heroics that, for a brief moment, united the country.
We’ve known about Nike’s plans to honor KD, The King, and Devin Booker with public pairs of their internationally-worn kicks since mid-July, but tracking an actual release has been far tougher. At long last, James reveals his portion of the festivities, faithfully adapting the iridescent gold and blue finishes that the King donned a year ago. Both pairs features a crinkled leather upper build, emphasized by the metallic nature of the coloring; additionally, a marble statue of Nike, the goddess of victory, appears on the insoles.
This first official appearance of the public release comes via James’ House Three Thirty community space, where two-pair multi-packs went on sale within its retail location. Silken dust bags within the double-wide packaging contain each metallic edition. From what we gather at the moment, only 8 of these special packs were listed and possible even made, one each for size 8, 8.5, 9, 10, 10.5, 11, 12, and 13.
