You don’t need to look any further than the adidas Samba “Cheetah” for proof of how the Three Stripes has taken the torch from its various collaborators and worked it into mainline applications. While their Wales Bonner runoffs should be easily recognizable by the sneaker community at large, perhaps we’re seeing seeds of another partners’ influence as the adidas Samba Lux steps into the fore.
We won’t maintain the suspense any longer; it’s Edison Chen and his CLOT label that come to mind with this reimagining, having already utilized crepe rubber soles on their silken adidas Gazelle duo earlier in 2025. That boot-inspired touch serves as one of a few significant changes with this model, with the other being the tasselled tongue extension down the midline.
That twist harkens to the Samba LT, itself a shoe inspired by Grace Wales Bonner, and splits the difference between an entirely radical and a familiar spin. A refined leather upper and lining ensures that the lifestyle icon still sits at the hear tof this design, though the Lux sub-head and attendant touches should fit these for dressier applications than its parent could.
The adidas Samba Lux has emerged in black/tan and burgundy/tan colorways; a concrete release date hasn’t accompanied them. Generally, expect both out for Fall/Winter 2025, retailing at $110 a piece.
