Some of the more totemic drops in Jordan Brand’s 40th anniversary are yet to fully hit the public; the Air Jordan 4 “Black Cat,” Air Jordan 5 “Tokyo,” and Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red” are still ahead of us as we enter the last month of the Fall shopping season. However, we’re already beginning to get the seeds of year 41, simultaneously the celebration of 25 years for the Air Jordan 6; centered at this early stage around the “Reverse Infrared.”
If this is your first run-in with this modified classic, we’ll explicate the slight but heady changes, tailored to reflect a late ’90s sample of Mike’s sixth signature as versed to the hi-contrast colorway that collectors have known and loved for a quarter of a century. The fiery sole unit flips its layout, cutting through an all-black here with a stripe of “Infrared,” diverging from the black mid strip on the OG. Importantly, this is a stealthier retake as well, eschewing the 3M underpinnings we usually see with this shoe, again because that ’91 early build eschewed it. Finally, reflecting Jordan Brand’s increased willingness to cater to the long-timers, Nike Air proudly sits on the rear, surely a touch that’ll excite the purists.
At this stage, this and the Jordan 6 “Cap and Gown” are the only confirmed celebrants of the silhouette for 2026, but we’re expecting the guest list to fill up quickly as we inch closer to the new year. For now, expect the Air Jordan 6 “Reverse Infrared” to touch down in Spring, with early reports pointing towards an All-Star Weekend date. We’ll update this article and our Jordan Release Dates hub with more info as it comes.
