In the early days of the program, you could’ve mistaken adidas’ “Made In” ultra-premium line as a response to Jordan Brand’s similar “Wings” efforts. However, the Three Stripes has jumped over the Jumpman in how long its adjacent effort has stuck around in the catalog.
Now spanning the Superstar, Handball Spezial, Samba, LA Trainer, and more, “Made In Italy” finds the fitting Italia for a sequel effort to its original white/green. In case the material qualtiy wasn’t evident on that predecessor, the atmosphere is far more upfront on this pair, coated in refined brown ostrich leather throughout its thin sidewalls before giving way to a thin sole underfoot. Market responses to that first colorway has been quiet overall, but perhaps the turn towards traditional leather goods can bring the extra “oomph” needed to propel the 1960’s creation back into the public consciousness.
The adidas Italia hits CONFIRMED on September 9th, retailing for $400.
