Is there another yearly celebration building for Jordan Brand? Collectors have known to expect the Air Jordan 11 at the peak of holiday season for more than a decade, and it’s getting there for the “Single’s Day” program with women’s exclusive of the same silhouette. Mexican Independence Day may just be the next landmark that Retro enthusiasts can look forward to, as the Air Jordan 3 “El Vuelo” checks off a 2025 edition.
2024 brought the first seeds of this pattern, as the Air Jordan 5 “El Grito” arrived with etched front and rear panelling alluding to Otomi-style geometry. Going one step further, the Air Jordan 3 “El Vuelo” builds out all new tooth-esque panels just above the mudguard, elucidating the Luchador theme that lights this pair. A white, red, and green color scheme should be easy enough to parse as flag colors, while pops of metallic gold on the tongue and anchoring the laces add an air of refinement. The AJ3 adds some final flourishes with “Más vale maña que fuerza” embroidery on the inside tongues (roughly translating to “skill is greater than strength”) and a special edition shoe box modeled after traditional posters.
The Air Jordan 3 “El Vuelo” and its Spizike Low partner will drop first in their home country, teeing off on September 6th in Mexico. A wider global launch will then follow on September 20th. Retail for the Retro is set at $230 or local equivalent for each of those drops.
